Lady Katherine Pakenham (1831-1911) was the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Longford, and niece of the Hon. Catherine Pakenham who had married the Duke of Wellington. She married Fenton John Evans-Freke in 1851.

Durancé George has scribbled "Wed 29, 1 o'clock' at the top of the letter". Wednesday the 29th occurs in January 1845, October 1845, April 1846, July 1846, September 1847, December 1847, March 1848, November 1848, August 1849, and May 1850. Take your pick!
